I can’t wait for this to come out. You are showing the world what some of us here in Oklahoma have wanted to keep to ourselves for years!! But it’s time for the world to appreciate the REAL music for what it is. It’s not generated, cubicle produced, mindless, cheap, or shallow. It’s real people making real music…..Looks great, I am stoked!!
I can’t wait until this comes out….You’re sharing with the world what some of us have wanted to keep secret for years!! But something this good and REAL needs to be shared with the world!
Lata,
ORDM…thank you very much for such a great remedy on this very special and so important group of musicians. ‘remember it well’– I love it beyond the sky….and I hope you see why.
I have been enjoying the music for the past 13 years! Absolutely love all the musicians and the music. Can’t wait to see the film. How can I check for the locations?
It is Amazing,,Really Amazing,,What a treasure we have in Tulsa musicians..It’s such a honor to know I come from a place so Rich in Culture. Can’t Wait to see this film!
I absolutely love the trailer!! I am so glad you have done this film and cannot wait to see the whole thing!! Thanks again for inviting me!! See you next Monday!!!
I used to think I learned to love blues music as a kid in Oakland, California, with juke joints on every corner, street performers and local radio stations with nothing but blues music when I was there for a few years… I’ve come to believe it’s a natural influence of Oklahoma’s rich music culture and perspective.
You’ve hit the nail on the head Bill. People always go looking for pure roots of something and they always search for it where they find the most quantity of it. This is why Oklahoma is America’s best kept secret. Firstly, it’s not pure because Oklahoma sits right in the middle of everything and Will Roger’s Highway (66) runs right through it, bringing every trend and influence and testing it against the resonance of distance and mother nature. Secondly, there are 3 million people in Oklahoma and you won’t find the most quantity of anything. Thirdly, and I think most importantly, the people of Oklahoma are very humble and never made a big deal of saying “That’s from Oklahoma, Woody Guthrie;s from Oklahoma, Red Dirt’s from Oklahoma”… but that’s OK because Oklahoma keeps the thing itself, rather than the fame or reputation.
Can’t wait to see the movie. I took my nickname for the net from my love for red dirt music. I always get asked if I took it from Emmylou’s album, or if I’m from Georgia. I tell the NO, then turn them onto red dirt music. I love to share it with my friends all around the world via the net.
I hope that we have the opportunity to see this in my area. I came away from this trailer with a hunger to know more. It reveals the history of of a genre that for too long has been thrown into other catagories. Red Dirt stands alone as my personal favorite as well.Congrats on a fantastic film. I can’t wait to share this.
Where do you live? Lets find out who covers your area and get them to broadcast it!! I sincerely hope that the broadcasters and cultural institutions in Oklahoma take notice of this. I’m pretty sure Europeans will.
Incredible Lata, can’t wait to see the full feature film. The digital footage is incredible along with all the characters you show in the trailer footage! Hope to see you soon here in “Red Dirt Country”.
WOW…now this will be a movie worth seeing!!
I run Skydog’s Red Dirt Radio at http://www.live365.com/stations/skydog123 and invite everyone to take a listen to what Nashville doesn’t want America to hear….real music that has substance rather than meaningless fluff for lyrics.
I am from the heart of Oklahoma and nothing tells the stories like Red Dirt. OOOOOOOOOH we do miss Brother Bob Childers. It’s a good thing we have people like him carrying on the music. RED DIRT TO THE CORE!!!!!
